Essence & Analogies

In this episode of the 3-Minute Leader I talk about how separating a problem or challenge from its “essence” is the key to innovative problem solving, and how using analogies opens up fresh pathways to understand a problem and ideate novel solutions. I refer to two terrific books - Range, How Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World, by David Epstein, and Thinkertoys, A Handbook of Creative Thinking Techniques by Michael Michalko.
